On Wednesday, we pretended to be paleontologists in the most delicious way...by extracting chocolate chips from our cookies! The students used a special "tool" to carefully remove the chips (bones) from the cookie (earth). We were able to use a lot of our dinosaur vocabulary during the experiment and finished by eating all the bones and dirt (I bet you never thought your child's teacher would tell you that!).

We experimented with different objects during STEMSday to determine which one would slide the fastest.
What were the determining factors? Slide (flat side) or roll (like a ball)? Light or heavy? Wood or plastic? Do wheels matter? Size? The students took turns racing the objects down the slide making an observation, and choosing what they thought would be a faster object. We had fun on our field trip last week. The students visited the bakery, produce, meat, and dairy departments.
