Students learned that we need good food to keep our bodies strong and full of energy. We try to eat different colored fruits and vegetables to fill our bodies with a rainbow of food every week. Our class record for the most rainbow food in one lunch is 4!

On Wednesday, we read a story about little cloud. Father Sun was so happy he warmed up and Mother River lifted a little cloud from the water. There was a baby in the cloud and one of the students raised their hand. Why is the baby in the cloud? We talked about how sometimes books give human characteristics to nonhuman objects. They all agreed that there was not a real baby in the clouds and learned the world personification. It's never too early to practice new vocabulary! Did it melt? Students predicted what would melt in the hot sun during wellness. Some of the items in the tray were: crayons, cotton balls, chocolate, goldfish crackers, play dough, and a rock.
We graphed our predictions for several of the items as well as checked our predictions after the experiment. The sun was hot enough to melt the chocolate, but nothing else. On the next hot day, I want to show the students that crayons will also melt. The back seat of my dad's 1972 Dodge Charger proved it to me when I was their age! :) |
