We have turned our eyes up this week in Pre-K. We are discussing the daytime and nighttime sky. Our opening question this week was: Can you walk on a cloud? One of our students said, "No, you would fall right through!" Several of the students had watched a cartoon where birds sat on clouds. A group of students even had a spiritual discussion on who lives in the clouds. During the week, we tested our theories: Can a PERSON walk on a cloud? The students were able to touch what a cloud would feel like (we even became the wind to watch how we could move the cloud) and dropped colored water onto a "cloud" to make it heavy enough to rain. The students concluded that, no a real, live person would not be able to walk on a cloud. Our cloud maker uses plain water to make the "clouds" Our rain clouds. We even made our own colored water by using dried up markers!

We have been working with estimations in class and this week we estimated how many "Cat in the Hat" treats were in the ziplock baggie (marshmallows and dried cranberries). Our estimates ranged from 6 - 101. I can guarantee it will fall somewhere in that range :) We count on Friday. We may even get to try one if there are enough for everyone!
