We had a bizarre day in PreK today! A book MADE me read all sorts of ridiculous words (one student even said that the book was "out of control") AND you children ate and (for the most part) liked vegetables!
We read, The Book With No Pictures and the kids loved it, because it is so funny. The author "requires" the reader to say all sorts of silly things (like "I am a monkey"). I love it, because it is such a good instructional tool to teach concepts of print (letters form words/words form sentences and we can read the sentences from left to right, top to bottom to tell a story). Concept of print is an essential pre-reading skill. We also ate flowers (broccoli), roots (carrots), seeds (peas), and leaves (lettuce). Some of the students were a little reluctant, but most of them found something they liked!
