On Wednesday, students participated in our first Pre-K Olympics. I am so proud of how they cheered each other on during the events.
Students participated in Savannah's version of curling, ice hockey, and cross country skiing. Congratulations to our class for winning the gold medal in hockey!

The students learned about some of the traditions that come with the Chinese New Year. Hopefully they came home and helped you clean the house to sweep away the old year. ;) We made paper lanterns and had a parade down the hall. It was the perfect way to wrap up our study of Asia.
We played with boxes this week. Although it doesn't sound very exciting, we had a great time! We were building creativity and using our imaginations this week. On Monday, our boxes were just boxes. The students colored on them, stacked them, and carried them throughout the room. In the afternoon, we sat in a circle and some of the students climbed in the box and pretended we were flying on a bird, or driving a race car. That little spark of imagination was all they needed! By Tuesday, they were making houses, cars, and pirate ships. Some of the students were swallowed by a giant monster and another set became a talking box with four heads.
We created our own quiet hibernation reading cave this week. So many students wanted to hibernate that we had to expand our cave over the tables! Your child may think hibernating bears like to read stories in between naps, but other than that, they seemed to enjoy learning about hibernation. :)
