A huge part of the PreK experience is engaging in cognitive processing activities. Student's at this age are naturally good at asking questions and very curious. We have a unique opportunity to help guide and challenge the students during explorations and teach them how to make predictions and discuss cause and effect in a real way. It always amazes me how self-assured the students become over the course of a school year! Students make a prediction as to which tool will pick up a particular object. Once the prediction has been made, the student conducts the experiment. If the student is incorrect, we discuss why it didn't work.

One of the most important things we learn in PreK are socio-emotional skills. We spend a lot of time learning to work with each other in a respectful manner. I want our students to achieve academically, but I take the most pride in them when they build/make/create things as a team.
