A HUGE thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who helped with our celebration. The students had so much fun!

We pulled out the insides of a pumpkin today! Some of the students insisted on wearing gloves, but in the end, all of us decided to get our hands dirty! Tomorrow we will describe our pumpkins using our five senses and eventually plant our growing seedlings in the pumpkin shell. The students had so much fun on PJ day. My favorite comments were: "This is so silly, I don't wear my clothes to school today." "Mrs. Reynolds, we will all be great nappers today, because we are already ready for bed!" "These aren't my real pajamas. Mom said I can't wear only underwear." We checked on our plants (some of them are HUGE already) We signed in for the day. We read with our book buddies. We made SLIME! It's in your child's book bag. The students liked adding the contact solution, so it will probably feel more like silly putty. Have fun!
Students are learning about the characteristics of growing things this week by planting seeds. Students talked nicely to their seeds (like Olivia in the story) to promote growth and a couple of them have sprouted! The students will be responsible for taking care of the plants for the next 4-6 weeks and then we will harvest them.
The students made pizza this week! On Wednesday, they measured mixed and prepared our pizza crust. On Thursday, we topped and ate our pizzas (there may have been a special secret step in the middle that involved a small switch-a-roo on the crusts to avoid cross contamination ;) shhhhh). Some of the students loved it, others didn't care for the sauce, but they were all excited to participate.
We also learned about gas. Ask your child about the "yeast burps" in their bread. |
