We are having a good time learning about farms this week! It's always fun to hear the students get excited over the "new toys" in the room. We have pigs in the sensory table, chickens in dramatic play, and vegetables to paint with!

We had such a fun time pretending to be community helpers this week. We'll leave the props and dress ups out for a while so the student can continue to play.
We started using Mo Willems stories to introduce new vocabulary to the students this week. Our first set of books centers around Knuffle Bunny. Trixie assists her daddy at the Laundromat, Daddy becomes confused when Trixie gets "fussy", and Trixie becomes frustrated when she tries her hardest to tell Daddy that Knuffle Bunny is back at the laundromat.
When reading books at home if a character assists or becomes frustrated or confused, point it out to your child to reinforce these words at home too. :) The students have been enjoying our PreK playground this week. It's an ice-cream store. I was so excited that someone was selling ice-cream that I ate all of one of a student's cone when he offered me a bite. I told him I was soooo sorry and offered to buy him another one ;) I honestly have no idea what they were doing. It looked like some type of talent show. They were so cute and giggling like crazy! This is what the first few students saw when they came into the classroom on Friday! What a great way to start our day.
Did your holiday break include a trip to the beach? If so, I hope your PreK student encouraged everyone to take their trash back home! We learned about sea turtles this week. They love to eat jellyfish. Unfortunately, sometimes the plastic bags in the water look like a tasty treat to the turtles! That's what happened to the main character in our story. Scute is a real loggerhead sea turtle that was rescued by Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island. He had a plastic grocery bag stuck in his throat when they found him. Jellyfish hang from the ceiling, pirate ships and a ton of sea creatures hang on the wall! We enjoyed our 3 week tour of the sea. We followed our first recipe this week in PreK! They turned out great.
