This week we talked about the first Thanksgiving. We made story telling bracelets for the students to retell the PreK version of the story of the Pilgrims and Wampanoag tribe. Students slide each bead across the bracelet as they tell the story. You read the story below and pause for your child to fill in the underlined word.
1 green – Their story starts in England. 1 brown – The Mayflower brought the Pilgrims 3 blue - over a long journey across the ocean. 1 green – The pilgrims land at Plymouth and 3 white – experience a long, cold winter. 1 orange – In the spring the Native Americans helped the pilgrims plant pumpkins 1 yellow – and corn. 1 red – They gathered cranberries. 2 brown – Native Americans taught the pilgrims to hunt turkey and brought deer to the feast.

Friday during center time was probably one of the roughest days I have had yet this year. I broke my left wrist and my right arm. I also had a head wound and a very bad stomach ache. Luckily, I have some amazing PreK students who were able to doctor me up and have me healthy before lunch! It turns out all I needed was a couple of "casts" and two ice packs.
Your child may have even "suffered injuries", because we tore through a full box of band aids in less than an hour! Don't worry, our highly qualified 4 and 5 year old doctors and nurses took good care of everyone. I think the students had fun playing with all of the community helper props we put out this week. A special thank you to our parents who came in to talk to the class about their jobs. |
