Today was one of the hardest days for me in Pre-K, because I had to keep my mouth shut!
Our students worked on Leprechaun Traps during small groups today and they did a fabulous job! I had to bite my tongue a few times (to keep from showing them a "better" way or making a suggestion). A few of the students struggled for a couple of minutes, but then you could almost see the wheels starting to turn! It was so fun to hear how they were going to catch the leprechaun and to watch their little STEM hands at work. Here are a few of their creations!

The students used some wonderful science skills this week! We talked about stars and constellations. We even made and named our own constellation. We discussed what would be different if we lived on the moon and we walked to recess pretending like we were on the moon.
Next week, we will learn how day turns into night and celebrate St. Patrick's day! Our music with movement went "old school" today.
On Tuesday, we were invited to walk through a living history museum at our school celebrating Black History Month. The students recognized the name Martin Luther King Jr and Langston Hughes (we read some of his poetry when we studied Benny Andrews). I promised them we would listen to music from "the lady in the pink dress" and "the person with the red jacket" and today was the day. We danced to Think by Aretha Franklin and Wanna be Starting Something by Michael Jackson. I even taught them how to moon walk (or my version of a moon walk). Have them show you :) I'm sure they will do as great of a job as I did! |
