I love dinosaur week in PreK!
We learned so many rich vocabulary words this week. Paleontologist: We worked as paleontologists is several ways. We used our tool to excavate the dinosaur. The students worked so hard, they were able to bring their dinosaur home. Students also used brushes during center time at the sand table to dig up dinosaur bones. Finally, we made imprints using dinosaur bones (see pictures below). Biped / Quadruped: I wanted to introduce the prefixes bi- and quad- in a fun way. We sorted dinosaurs into biped and quadruped groups. We made our own biped and quadruped dinosaurs. We walked like a biped or quadruped to our small groups. I have to admit, this was not my idea! One of the students wished that she was a quadruped during large group time and I though, why not? If you want to walk to group like a quadruped, you are more than welcome to! Pachycephalosaurus: We counted the syllables...whew!
