We had an unexpected learning experience today after lunch. Yesterday some of the students noticed mushrooms popping up in the grass on the way back to the class. We stopped our line and observed with our eyes the newly formed fungus.
Today, the mushrooms had opened up, wow they sure do grow fast! Instead of just walking by and observing them, today I picked one and we all felt the underside and brought it back to the classroom to look at it with a magnifying glass. One of our students thought the gills looked like tiny slices of cheese! I love that Pre-K allows us to put the lesson plans on hold for a minute or two while we learn about something that is student initiated!
